It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...to Job Hunt!

Although it may seem strange to think about job hunting at the same time that you're sending out your holiday greeting cards, this is, in actuality, the best time to start looking for a new job. It's far better to begin now than to wait until the new year when everybody else has made their New Years resolutions to do so as well.

Job offers can come at any time, including Christmas Eve, and even New Year's Eve. It happens, and it can happen to you.

Certainly, the odds of having that job by Christmas Day may be rather slim, but by starting your job search now, or during the time that you have off throughout the holidays, you are giving yourself an enormous head-start.

Keep the following things in mind as you debate starting your job hunt during the holidays:

• Businesses that still have funds in their hiring budget by the end of the year will want to hire before the year is through. They want to get all of the new hires in before the budget expires, or they could lose their budget money! Therefore, you need to get your resume in before December 31st to take advantage of the end of the budgeting year.

• Most people feel a lot of pressure and strain during the holiday season and will give their job hunting a rest in December. If you put emphasis on your own job hunt throughout the holiday season, you'll be taking advantage of the gap they've left behind.

• The holidays will likely mean that you'll have some time off. Use it to get your resume up-to-date and distribute it to everybody you can find.

The month of December is one of the most unrecognized job hunting opportunities out there. This year it's up to you to take advantage of this time and grab hold of the job you've been waiting to find. Remember, the only thing stopping you from getting a new job in December is not trying!

Testimonials

"Everyone at work was so proud of me to have accomplished a goal that I set out for myself many years ago. With being a single mother, raising children, holding down a full-time job, and all the other living life to the fullest situations with children to raise, it was just too difficult to arrange school classes, and try to juggle everything. Almeda allowed me the opportunity to achieve the degree I earned through so many years of hard work. I have a very stressful occupation, and it takes its toll on you and your family. Now, that I have my degree, my stress level has decreased immensely, and I know that I will be financially able to care for myself, and my family. I feel that my job is secure."
