Start a Weekend Home Business for Extra Cash

You and your partner may work 9 to 5 every weekday, but sometimes those paychecks just aren't enough to cover your financial obligations or to meet your financial goals. You have lots of bills on your hands, but you may also want to save for a vacation, new car, or retirement. Fortunately, your weekends give you a great opportunity to make a bit more money to help out in those efforts.

Though there are lots of different options for you to - depending on your skills, talents, and interests - the following are a few that have been found to be very successful by other weekend entrepreneurs:

• Cake Decorator - for weddings, birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and other special events. If you have the right skills and artistic flair (as well as cake decorating equipment) this might be a very lucrative option for you.


• Personal Fitness Trainer - if you are already working out regularly and you have the skill and knowledge to help others get fit, you can help teach people yoga, Pilates, tae-bo, and help them meet many other fitness goals.


• Cooking Instructor - you can teach cooking from the very basics to much more complicated, or specialize in vegetarian food, Italian food, desserts, sauces, or anything else you happen to love. You can get creative with food presentations, or work with the adventurous for exotic tastes and styles.


• Musician - use your ability to sing or play a musical instrument to make a few extra dollars. Play at nightclubs, bars, parties, or even weddings.


• Tutoring Service - help students from elementary school to university age with your advanced knowledge in a certain subject. Remember, you need to know more than your student, so it has to be something you're very competent in teaching.


• Tour Guide - give walking tours or rent a van. You can give historical tours, informational tours about a certain neighborhood, or even specialized tours such as ghost tours at night.
