In today's world, no one denies the value of a university degree. The big question now is what is the value of university degrees online? Do they have the same value as the university degrees obtained in the traditional offline institutions of higher education or is there a difference? If there is a difference, what is that difference?

These questions are important ones. It is easily proven that university degrees online are cheaper and often more easily obtainable than those same degrees would be if obtained in the more traditional brick and mortar universities but are they equal? Are you settling for less than the best if you opt to get your university degrees online? Are you getting a poor imitation of "the real thing"?

In researching this subject I found that nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, studies seem to show that for the dedicated self disciplined students, the value of university degrees online can exceed, indeed in many cases far exceed the same degrees obtained offline. The reasons are multiple and simple. First of all the students aren't boxed into a certain inflexible time schedule. With the possible exception of having to get their homework done within a certain time frame, the students are free to establish their own work hours, These hours can be in one solid block or they can be staggered, if that is what makes them better for a particular student.

Secondly, the students have the option of going back and reviewing the material as it was given, something to be envied by students in traditional offline universities.

Thirdly, there is a greater realistic choice. Students who choose to attend an online university have the world at their fingertips, with virtually all of the online universities that exist from which to choose. The university selected can be on the other side of the world, if it is the one that seems best to a particular individual and that fact doesn't need to be taken into consideration. As long as the degrees offered are ones that will be recognized by the country in which the student lives, the choice is world wide. There are no transportation costs or immigration laws to be considered as there would be if the students were to actually travel to another country to attend offline universities.

Unfortunately, not all online universities are created equal. Some are created by unscrupulous individuals seeking to line their own pockets, therefore, not all university degrees obtained online are equal in value. Therefore, it is as important to research each online university considered. Just as one would look carefully at an offline university, going to visit campus, finding out how it ranked amongst its peers etc. it is equally important to do the same thing with online universities. It is important to ask questions, get references. One might even go as far as talking to some folks already involved in the vocation the student wants to enter. Find out the value placed upon university degrees obtained on line by various companies for which one might want to work at some future time. Investigate, then matriculate, at the university that is best for you.
