Biblical Theology is a discipline of theology that combines study and interpretation of the Bible with historical context and analysis. In this way, study is not restricted to knowledge of the Bible itself, but rather expands to examine the historical, sociological, and cultural factors that may have comprised the Bible's verses.
Those who pursue a degree in Biblical Theology believe that understanding the intended meaning of a Biblical text is dependent on knowing what the text reflects or points toward. This degree is received when students can demonstrate and articulate their commitment to understanding the Bible through this perspective.
